Utilities Supervisor

This position supervises, monitors, coordinates, and upgrades the electrical and instrumentation systems at the water treatment plants, wastewater collection systems, water distribution systems, and vacuum sewage systems. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Assistant Utilities Director.
Essential Job Duties

The following duties are normal for this position:
Coordinates & performs repairs, replacements, and routine scheduled maintenance of electrical components.
Coordinates & performs maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, electrical equipment, and other related equipment.
Prepares and maintains accurate maintenance and repair records. Uses and maintains a wide variety of electrical tools and test equipment.
Performs installation of electrical conduit, wire systems, motor components, and related electrical devices.
Observes standard operating procedures, safety practices, and follows NEC Code and NFPA guidelines.
Identifies existing or potential facility or equipment failure and reports the problem to supervisor.
May perform minor excavation of job sites by manual labor or the use of various equipment.
Operates, cleans, and maintains various power tools and equipment.
Performs routine on-call shifts as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience as an industrial electrician, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A Journeyman Electricians' license and a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of electrical circuits. Knowledge of water, wastewater, and collection utility construction and maintenance, and related rules, regulations, ordinances, and laws. Knowledge of proper use of tools and safety practices. Knowledge of machinery, pumps, and motors. Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and circuitry. Skill in responding quickly to critical situations and performing work assignments as instructed. Skill in reading and interpreting schematics and blueprints. Ability to install, troubleshoot, repair, and operate electronic and electrical equipment and related circuitry, and other related equipment. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Knowledge of Utilities Policies and Procedures.
