Inventory Control Specialist

Aerotek is hiring an Inventory Control Specialist in New Castle, DE!
The Inventory Control Specialist maintains accurate inventory through cycle counting, audits, reconciliation, and discrepancy investigation within a fast-paced third-party logistics retail distribution environment. This role requires hands-on inventory control experience, strong cycle counting proficiency, and the ability to safely operate a stand-up reach truck forklift while supporting inventory integrity across multiple clients and warehouse processes.
Responsibilities

Perform scheduled and unscheduled blind cycle counts to ensure alignment between physical inventory and system records.
Operate a stand-up reach truck forklift to safely access, count, and verify inventory stored at various warehouse heights and locations.
Conduct inventory audits across receiving, picking, packing, and shipping processes to verify accuracy and adherence to procedures.
Audit inbound receipts, outbound shipments, and warehouse management system (WMS) transactions for accuracy and compliance with internal controls and client requirements.
Identify, document, and investigate inventory discrepancies, performing root cause analysis for recurring variances and recommending corrective actions.
Validate inventory adjustments, ensuring proper approvals, documentation, and accurate posting within the system.
Verify SKU attributes, location integrity, labeling, and slotting accuracy to support efficient and accurate warehouse operations.
Maintain detailed audit logs, reports, and supporting documentation, and monitor inventory accuracy metrics and shrink indicators.
Support full physical inventories and client-specific inventory compliance requirements as needed.
Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and IT teams to resolve inventory issues, correct transactional errors, and improve inventory-related processes.
Assist with the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to inventory control.
Support training and operational activities to help team members follow inventory control best practices.
Manage workload effectively by prioritizing audit schedules, cycle counts, and investigations in a high-volume environment.
Adhere to and promote safety, quality, and inventory control best practices throughout daily tasks.
Essential Skills

Hands-on experience with inventory control in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Proficiency performing cycle counts, including blind cycle counts, with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to safely operate a stand-up reach truck forklift to access and verify inventory.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Proven ability to work accurately in a high-volume, fast-paced warehouse setting.
Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and recurring inventory issues.
Experience working with inventory accuracy key performance indicators (KPIs) and shrink metrics.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
Comfort working with minimal supervision and taking ownership of assigned tasks and outcomes.
High level of accountability and reliability in meeting audit schedules and deadlines.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities, processes, and client requirements.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and inventory control best practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in a third-party logistics (3PL) or multi-client distribution environment.
Experience in auditing inbound receipts, outbound shipments, and WMS transactions.
Familiarity with verifying SKU attributes, location integrity, labeling, and slotting accuracy.
Experience maintaining audit logs, reports, and inventory accuracy metrics.
Exposure to collaborating with Operations, Quality, and IT teams to resolve inventory issues.
Experience supporting physical inventories and client-specific compliance requirements.
Involvement in SOP development and training related to inventory processes.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and distribution center that supports multiple retail clients. The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, with frequent interaction across receiving, picking, packing, and shipping areas. You will regularly work on the warehouse floor, operate a stand-up reach truck forklift, and use a warehouse management system (WMS) and related technology to perform counts, audits, and investigations. The position involves working around racking, material handling equipment, and active dock areas, with a strong emphasis on following safety procedures and inventory control best practices.
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Castle, DE.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
