Department of Cardiovascular Medicine Faculty Opportunities – University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)
The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at UTMB Health includes 33 faculty physicians and serves as the professional home for 32 fellows. The department operates in four hospitals and numerous ambulatory clinics.

Faculty Positions

General Cardiologist

– The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at UTMB Health seeks a General Cardiologist to join its robust academic cardiology practice at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. The successful candidate will educate and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students and will work in a well‑managed practice. Candidates must be board‑certified (or BE) in ABIM, have completed a General Cardiology Fellowship program, and hold a valid Texas state medical license. Experience in clinical research is a plus but not required.

Heart Failure‑Transplant Cardiologist

– The department seeks an advanced Heart Failure and VAD/Transplant cardiologist to join its academic practice at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Sealy Heart and Vascular Institute and perform inpatient and outpatient duties, including the growing Heart Transplant and VAD program. Candidates must be board‑certified or eligible in ABIM, have completed a structured Heart Failure fellowship, and hold a valid Texas state medical license. Experience in clinical research trials is a plus but not required.

Advanced Cardiac‑Imaging Cardiologist

– The department seeks an Advanced Cardiac Imaging cardiologist to join its academic practice at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. The ideal candidate will have Level 3 fellowship training in Cardiac MRI and Cardiac CT, with preference for structural echocardiography experience and board certifications in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. The role focuses on advanced cardiac imaging and a modest ambulatory clinic presence. Candidates must be board‑certified or eligible in ABIM, have completed a structured advanced cardiac imaging fellowship, and hold a valid Texas state medical license.

Interventional Cardiologist

– The department seeks an Interventional Cardiologist to join its growing academic practice at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. The successful candidate will perform coronary and endovascular interventional procedures, with preference for expertise in PAD, high‑risk PCI, interventional heart failure, or catheter‑based pulmonary embolism interventions. Candidates must be board‑certified (or BE) in ABIM, have completed General and Interventional Cardiology fellowship programs, and hold a valid Texas state medical license.

Electrophysiology Cardiologist

– The department seeks an Electrophysiology Cardiologist at any rank. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive EP care across UTMB campuses and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students. Candidates must be board‑certified (or BE) in ABIM and Cardiac Electrophysiology, have completed a General Cardiology fellowship program, and hold a valid Texas state medical license.

Compensation and Benefits
