Internal Relief Veterinarian

VCA Seaside Animal Hospital, Windham, NH, United States

Internal Relief Veterinarian
Full‑time. Flexible schedule. Monday‑Friday only. No weekends. 5 weeks PTO.

As an Internal Relief Veterinarian, you will cover for doctors on vacation or leave across three sister hospitals in southeastern New Hampshire, ensuring seamless care and maintaining the same culture and standard of care.

Hospitals

Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital – Windham, NH (2024 AAHA Practice of the Year)

All Pets Veterinary Hospital – Nashua, NH

Greenland Veterinary Hospital – Greenland, NH

What Makes This Role Unique
Relief veterinarians at most practices carry the full weight of callbacks and administrative detail. At our hospitals this is not the case. You are a doctor.

You see appointments, perform exams, make diagnostic and treatment plans, and can perform surgery and dentistry (or choose to focus on medicine).

Client follow‑up and administrative detail stay with the permanent team—not you.

Your task list is lean by design, so your headspace stays on medicine.

A personal assistant supports your appointments—checking in and checking out clients and monitoring your flow throughout the day.

We stay on schedule so you walk out on time, every shift.

You are not expected to cover every vacancy—your protected time off remains.

Schedule & Benefits

Monday‑Friday only; no weekend shifts, no on‑call, no emergencies on days off.

Protected time off; you are not obligated to fill every open shift.

5 weeks of PTO annually.

30 hours of continuing education per year, covered.

$2,500 CE allowance.

Hospital closes 2 hrs/week for rounds and training; you are always in the loop.

What Relief Looks Like Here
Hospitals are well‑run, team‑driven, and deeply collaborative. When you arrive, staff knows who you are and how to support you. Each hospital is powered by three integrated teams—Customer Experience Team, Technicians, and Veterinary Assistants—working in sync to make sure every appointment runs smoothly.

Who You Are

DVM or equivalent, with an active New Hampshire veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain).

Confident and adaptable; you walk into new environments and hit the ground running.

Proficient in general medicine, surgery, and dentistry (surgery and dental optional).

Experience with avian and exotic species is a bonus, not a requirement.

A clear communicator who works well with teams you’ve never met before.

Reliable and accountable; you show up, do the work, and do it well.

Great attitude because culture matters and kindness travels with you from hospital to hospital.
