Systems Engineer – Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) Theater Strike Weapon Systems (TSWS) – Littleton, Colorado
About the Role
Join Lockheed Martin’s CPS team to develop the first hypersonic system for the U.S. Navy. As a Systems Engineer, you will drive design, integration, and production activities to deliver a cutting‑edge weapon system.
Responsibilities
Drive All Up Round + Canister configuration definition, including deriving requirements from known use cases and developing vehicle architecture.
Support physical and functional architecture discussions.
Support Systems Requirements Review (SRR) and Comprehensive Design Review (CDR) efforts.
Drive completion of engineering into Manufacturing Readiness Review (MaRR).
Oversee integration activities for vehicle builds through the production environment for Weapon System Integration (WSI) and follow‑on Tech Insertion (TI) contracts.
Provide on‑site production and design issue resolution by coordinating between Subject Matter Experts, Responsible Systems Engineers, Certified Product Engineers, Chief Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers and assembly level drawing owners.
Compose remediation instructions and enter them within quality engineering tools (Q‑notes).
Coordinate and communicate resolution instructions across multifunctional teams, including quality, manufacturing, and production leadership.
Travel may be required up to approximately 30% of the time.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
Experience with systems integration.
Broad systems engineering experience, including system architecture and design, systems documentation, system requirements, CONOPs, and systems verification.
Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs), electrical schematics, CAD models, and assembly‑level engineering drawings.
Previous experience as an Electrical Integrator, Mechanical Integrator, or Test Engineer.
Desired Skills
Strong multidisciplinary analytical and complex problem‑solving skills with demonstrated critical thinking in a high‑pace environment.
Familiarity with missile system design and architecture.
Experience writing, reviewing, or using Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWIs).
Experience with Automation Framework, including reading, writing, and executing test procedures.
Experience in defect resolution, including Material Review Board (MRB) certification or knowledge of Quality Assurance processes.
Familiarity with Lockheed Martin production.
Ability to articulate complex technical and programmatic issues to peers, management, and customers.
Demonstrated leadership skills and systems thinking.
Willingness to travel and support extended work shifts to meet production demand.
Experience with Systems Engineering design reviews: SRR, PDR, and CDR.
Course work toward a postgraduate degree is a plus.
Security Clearance
This position requires a government security clearance; US citizenship is mandatory. Clearance level: Secret.
