How Your Role Makes a Difference
Supervise other Medical Coordinators and provide staff training on medical, dental, and public health topics related to pediatric, adolescent care, and migrant health
Develop and maintain policies and procedures for confidential health record management, triage of health concerns, medical emergency response, environmental health and safety, and post-release care coordination
Schedule and transport youth to all medical appointments within required timeframes
Maintain and manage medical files in the UC Portal and ensure records are updated
Formulate treatment authorization requests to Point Comfort Underwriters for unaccompanied refugee clients
Serve as subject matter expert on Point Comfort Underwriters insurance through ongoing consultation and collaboration
Provide discharge resources and reports
Ensure documentation and filing compliance with all required forms in accordance with agency, state licensing, and ORR requirements
Reconcile and address billing errors to ensure accurate billing and prevent loss
May participate in on-call support for shelter care staff to address after-hours medical issues as needed
Stay current on all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services
Travel periodically to healthcare facilities to build relationships and transport clients
Essential job responsibilities may vary based on program or department needs
May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany-sponsored event
Complete other duties as assigned
What Will Make You Successful
Minimum of one (1) year of employment in a public health or healthcare setting with experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a bachelor’s degree, or higher health-related qualification (e.g., Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service
Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of confidentiality
Reliable with ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and tasks
Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to change
Must be able to pass required medical examinations and perform essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident
Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization
Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany
Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage
Must pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries
