Security Officer

Position Overview
Security personnel are essential to the overall security of our areas of responsibility. Security staff enforce rules and regulations of the institution while maintaining premise security of the buildings, property and grounds. Security staff also work with law enforcement to preserve life and the safety of all persons.
Responsibilities
Responds to calls for service quickly and handles various security and service-oriented situations, such as motorist assists, lock outs, escorts, and lock outs.
Secures and unsecures buildings, doors, windows and gates as needed and appropriate, on the designated dates and times. While in service, performs visual and manual checks to buildings and grounds for any possible breach in physical security throughout the duration of the shift.
Maintains a mobile, random and highly visible patrol pattern while observing for, and reporting all fires, hazardous conditions, unlawful activity, suspicious persons and/or vehicles.
Actively patrols assigned area(s), directs/regulates pedestrian and vehicle traffic as needed, wears or uses appropriate safety apparel/equipment, utilizes foot patrols, bicycles, carts and vehicles to patrol assigned areas, enforces rules and regulations, while using discretion issues campus citations and/or warning citations.
Subject to call‑ins for special/athletic events or unusual occurrences/incidents. Performs gate security, bag checks, pat‑down searches, metal‑detector searches, crowd control, VIP security detail, identifies unauthorized/trespassed persons and/or illegal/unregistered items and denies entry of such to specific areas and/or to the campus.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. equivalent.
Experience in fire prevention, safety or security activities.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of related experience preferred.
Benefits
Salary range: $33,800.00 (minimum) – $43,900.00 (midpoint). Full‑time position with benefits. Work hours vary; night and weekend work required.
