Facility Maintenance Specialist – Temp – Pendleton
Temporary appointment, anticipated to last 6 months, may be extended or decreased based on business need.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance work on facility buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Complete assigned work orders, support daily operations, and ensure facilities are maintained in a safe, functional, and efficient condition.

Work across multiple building trades including carpentry, plumbing support, electrical support, painting, welding, lock repair, and general maintenance.

Assist with grounds maintenance, material handling, and tool inventory following all safety, security, and operational procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in general building maintenance, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, or plastering.

Journeyman license/card in any of the above trades substitutes for this experience.

Requested Skills

Operate and maintain a variety of hand, power and pneumatic tools.

Perform semi-skilled tasks across various trades.

Evaluate information against standards and verify correctness.

Identify nature of repair and maintenance problems.

Communicate effectively with others to convey information.

Working Conditions
Work is performed within a large, medium-security correctional facility.

Routine, continuing direct contact with convicted male felons. Continuous exposure to hostile and/or potentially violent behavior.

Physical exertion may be required, including restraining inmates and breaking up fights. May be exposed to communicable diseases. Subject to required work during emergencies or work stoppages. Shift work may be required, including weekends and holidays.

Salary range: $3,950 - $5,453. PERS qualifying applicants may receive an adjusted range reflecting an additional 6.95%.

Requirements for Employment
Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.

Due to CJIS requirements, some felony convictions may disqualify applicants. Availability for background clearance at conditional job offer.
