Position Summary
This role leads the Mortgage team for branch offices and outside referrals, overseeing the full lifecycle of residential mortgage loans from application to closing. It manages personal production, daily operations, and team performance, partnering with fulfillment operations to drive closed volume.
Primary Accountabilities
People
Manages a team of Mortgage Loan Originators in a customer‑centric culture.
Coaches, develops, and conducts performance management with direct and indirect reports.
Identifies high‑potential employees for advanced training.
Manages poor performers and ensures at least one Mortgage Loan Originator or Junior Mortgage Loan Originator per team.
Relationship Management and Sales Development
Develops relationships with referral sources to generate new business.
Creates a sales‑focused culture and contributes to marketing strategies.
Fosters compliance and ethical sales practices.
Generates annual production in excess of $20 million.
Manages personal and team production to achieve monthly goals.
Conducts business plan reviews with the sales team.
Builds strategic and tactical plans for volume growth.
Participates in sales calls with Loan Originators.
Identifies system and procedural improvements.
Ensures loan originators comply with state, federal, and bank policies.
Monitors quality of loan originators to maintain standards.
Acts as intermediary for loan issues with processing and underwriting teams.
Provides support at bank‑sponsored events.
Other
Occasional travel for training, team meetings, and internal collaboration.
May require work in the Midland office.
Maintains compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., BSA).
Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of team‑leadership experience with coaching and motivation.
5 years of real estate/mortgage sales experience.
NMLS State License or Federal NMLS Registration.
Strong entrepreneurial and business‑development skills.
Knowledge of FHA, FNMA, FHLMS underwriting guidelines.
Subject‑matter expert in mortgage compliance regulations.
Business acumen and judgment regarding mortgage products and policies.
Needs‑analysis, interpersonal, persuasive, influencing, and negotiation skills.
In‑depth knowledge of conventional, government, and portfolio guidelines.
Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
Knowledge of federal lending regulations.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
Ability to solve complex, multifaceted problems.
