Pediatrician Position

Provides high quality patient and family-centered medical care to members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) and other eligible patients. Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat, prevent illness, disease and injury. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt.

Provides clinical and preventive services as a primary care provider to children between the ages of 0 to 21 years of age. Abides by the highest standards in clinical treatment of patients and service to patients and their families.
Assists and provides guidance to the Director of Health Services and the Medical Director for the expansion and improvement of all child health services to the SRPMIC. Participates on committees to address emerging issues in child health as requested.
Assist in the development of policies, procedures and operations manuals for satellite child health service sites, including Community school-based clinics.
Monitors SRPMIC-specific child health data in order to track trends in the child health care and health status indicators for Community children.
Stays current on emerging issues, technologies and research in the areas of child health care and disease, which affect the SRPMIC. Obtains continuing medical education credits required annually of pediatricians. Maintains all professional licenses and credentials required of a physician by the SRPMIC.
Consults with the Division Chief and other health professionals.
Prepares administrative reports as required
Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance program and departmental operations.

Knowledge of pharmaceutical therapies, existing and emerging.
Knowledge of emerging medical therapies.
Knowledge of the culture, customs, traditions, history and government of the Salt River Pima- Maricopa Indian Community preferred
Knowledge of resources within and outside the Community.

Skill in working with American Indian patients and their families.
Skill in communicating with children of all ages, particularly in a stressful setting for them such as a medical exam.
Skill in communicating with the family members of a sick and well child.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with health care providers, resource agencies, Tribal officials, staff, patient's families and members of the Community.
Skill in working within a community clinic setting and other satellite community health care settings.
Skill in educating and counseling a wide variety of patients and their families in the proper and safe use of medications at a level appropriate for their understanding.
Skill in developing policies, procedures and operations manuals for system improvement.
Skill in using personal computers, and related software, in order to fulfill job requirements.
Skill in maintaining accurate program records and compiling timely reports, according to prescribed standards.
Skilled in diagnosis and treatment.
Skills in performing medical, diagnostic procedures.
Skills in interpreting laboratory and other diagnostic test results.
Skilled in constructive problem resolution.

Uses the Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) guidelines as the standard of care for children served.

Ability to work with children that have abuse, chemical dependency and mental health problems.

Ability to work effectively with health care providers, resources agencies, Tribal officials, staff (professional and paraprofessional), members of the Community and particularly with patients and their families.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including cellular phones, photocopiers, FAX machines, calculators, and personal computers.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of from a university in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country.
Board Certification: Board certified or board eligible in pediatrics.
Licensure: An active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Arizona with no board actions or sanctions within the last 10 years.
Current DEA certificate
Current Life Support Certification in BLS. ACLS and PALS is accepted but will not replace BLS certification.
Experience: Successful completion of an accredited ACGME- or AOA-accredited post graduate residency program in Pediatrics. Practical work experience with Native Americans or Alaska Natives is preferred. 3+ years as a practicing pediatrician is preferred.

Job Description

The Pima County Library is currently hiring Library Pages for the Martha Cooper Library. Library Pages shelve and file library materials in alphabetical, numerical, or alphanumerical order. Additional duties include re-shelving misplaced books and performing other related tasks.
