The Data Management Architect Senior plays a critical role in developing, governing, and maintaining the enterprise data architecture to ensure data is reliable, consistent, and trusted across the organization. The role provides advanced expertise in data modeling, metadata and catalog practices, semantic standards, and data lineage documentation. This position works with internal and external data teams, architects, and senior business stakeholders to drive complex data initiatives, establish enterprise data standards, and enhance the organization’s data management maturity.
What will you do
Enterprise Data Modeling, Semantics & AI Enablement
Develop conceptual, logical, and physical models across domains.
Map transformations & integrations and drive clarity across systems.
Reverse-engineer legacy data structures to modernize, streamline, and rationalize designs.
Use ER/Studio and model automation to ensure standards and performance.
Govern design-to-implementation alignment with engineering.
Expand taxonomy and ontology usage across domains.
Apply semantic tagging to improve discovery, trust, and reuse.
Align semantic attributes with lineage & classification rules.
Data Governance, Metadata & Catalog Management
Maintain and enrich data dictionaries while automating metadata ingestion and scanning processes.
Apply lineage and classification standards (Purview/Unity Catalog).
Connect catalog to BI and ETL/ELT pipelines.
Expand glossary coverage with stewards.
Implement catalog APIs for programmatic queries/updates.
Train users on catalog practices and monitor metadata quality KPIs.
Data Strategy & Readiness
Translate business needs into structured data designs and metadata deliverables.
Prioritize modeling and governance work with product owners.
Provide status and risk updates; manage dependencies.
Support business-led analytics and stewardship routines.
Team Enablement & Knowledge Transfer
Facilitate design/model reviews while maintaining standards and templates.
Support cross-enterprise stewardship and governance routines.
Create training materials and onboarding guides for business users.
Performs related work as assigned.
What will you bring
Required Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer information systems, computer science, data management, information systems, information science, or a closely related field.
High School diploma or equivalent and additional full-time experience in data modeling or related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Required Experience
Five (5) years of full-time related experience in data modeling, metadata, data governance, or related areas.
A master’s degree or doctoral degree in a related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Required Registration, Certification, or Licensure
None.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications in data modeling, governance, or catalog tools
Experience with Azure, Databricks, Synapse, Fabric, Snowflake
Hands-on metadata automation or lineage tooling
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of established data modeling methodologies and standards
Metadata, catalog, and lineage frameworks across systems
SQL and relational design; distributed data platform familiarity
Modern governance including business glossary management
Agile delivery and cross-team collaboration patterns
Skills in creating/refining data models, applying metadata standards, semantic tagging, and analyzing data lineage
Ability to translate business requirements into structured models and communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Codes: Veterans, Reservists or Guardsmen with experience in the Military Occupational Specialty may meet the minimum requirements and are encouraged to apply.
