Position Summary
The Project Manager (Contract) supports the Processing Controls Engineering group within the gas organization, managing capital projects across natural gas transmission and distribution systems. This role is responsible for delivering multiple concurrent projects involving facilities and station upgrades, ensuring successful execution across engineering, permitting, and construction phases. Projects typically span two years, requiring strong coordination, financial oversight, and adherence to structured project management processes.

Key Responsibilities

Manage 6–8 concurrent capital projects with budgets ranging from $300K to $2.5M

Oversee full project lifecycle:

Year 1: Engineering and permitting

Year 2: Construction and closeout

Manage scope, schedule, and budget across all assigned projects

Lead cross‑functional coordination with engineering, project controls, and construction teams

Facilitate cross‑functional team (CFT) meetings and stakeholder communications

Track project financials, including forecasting, accruals, and cost management

Ensure compliance with structured Stage Gate (7‑gate) project management processes

Support field activities including site walks, project kickoffs, and constructability reviews

Typical Day

Monitor project progress across multiple active phases

Coordinate with engineers, schedulers, and cost analysts

Lead project meetings and stakeholder updates

Review budgets, forecasts, and financial reports

Address risks, issues, and project changes

Participate in occasional field visits (approximately 2–3 per month)

Work Schedule

Full‑time (40 hours/week)

Hybrid schedule: Remote: Monday & Friday; Onsite: Tuesday–Thursday

Based at LDC facility with free, secure parking

Required Qualifications

Experience managing projects in the natural gas utility industry

Background in transmission and/or distribution projects (LDC experience preferred)

Strong knowledge of project management fundamentals (scope, schedule, budget)

Experience with financial tracking, forecasting, and accruals

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

Required Skills

7+ years of relevant experience

Exposure to large-scale, high-impact capital projects

Experience with gas facilities and station projects

Familiarity with project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6)

Technical engineering background

Experience with SAP and advanced Excel

Education/Certifications (Preferred)

Engineering Degree

PMP (Project Management Professional)

PE (Professional Engineer) may be considered in place of PMP

Soft Skills

Strong communication and presentation skills (including Stage Gate reviews)

Stakeholder and vendor management

Conflict resolution and problem‑solving

High level of organization and prioritization

Ability to operate independently while collaborating across teams

Additional Details

Contract role approved for up to two years (long‑term engagement)

Overtime is not expected; used only when necessary

Travel: Approximately 2–3 site visits per month; expenses reimbursed via standard expense reporting (meals/lodging if applicable)
