Project Engineer (Mid-Level | Path to Project Manager)
We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support Project Managers and Field Superintendents in the execution of commercial construction projects. This role is ideal for someone with construction experience who is ready to take the next step in their career and grow into a Project Manager position.
This position combines project coordination, submittal review, cost tracking, and field support, providing full exposure to the construction project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Support Project Managers with daily project coordination and administration
Review and track submittals and shop drawings for completeness and general compliance
Prepare, process, and track change orders (including entry into Sage)
Manage project documentation, contracts, subcontracts, and permit tracking
Maintain organized electronic and hard copy project files
Keep project logs, schedules, and reporting tools updated
Coordinate utility applications (gas and electric)
Assist with back charge documentation and invoicing
Assemble Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals
Visit job sites to support Superintendents and monitor progress
Assist with punch lists and final walkthroughs
Track and support project closeout activities, including turnover items (keys, remotes, documentation)
Code and track vendor invoices to job cost
Assist with job cost tracking, budgeting, and monthly updates
Support Project Managers with cost reviews and reporting
Assist with bid packages and estimating support
Coordinate bid bonds and required documentation
Attend bid openings and record results
Assist with warranty tracking following project completion
Track equipment usage and coordinate maintenance needs
Support safety documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking
Qualifications
2–5 years of construction or project coordination experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications required
Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Experience with submittals and construction documentation preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with Sage or similar construction software is a plus
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work in both office and field environments
Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 DOE annual base salary, paid bi-weekly via direct deposit
Vacation: Two weeks of paid vacation annually, accrued over time
