Job Summary
The Degree Progress Specialist (DPS) monitors student progress toward a degree by partnering with assigned colleges and programs. The DPS manages course substitutions, course and hour waivers, bulletin extensions, and degree application processes. The DPS communicates and resolves degree progress issues with the partnering colleges, programs, and other stakeholders as necessary.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Manage course substitutions, waivers, extensions, graduation applications, change of major/minor, and audit letters. Work with partnering programs in determining the applicability of transfer credits toward the degree.
Manage the system workflow for electronic processes by developing SDRs with iTech, testing workflow processes for accuracy, troubleshooting workflow issues, and maintaining the SOAR workflow table.
Serve as liaison between partnering colleges and programs and the Office of the Provost and Registrar.
Assist faculty and staff in partnering colleges and programs with issues related to the Degree Progress Reports, Certificate Progress Reports, awarding badges, course substitutions, and graduation applications. Serve as the liaison between partnering programs and the Technical Analyst for Academic Advisement.
Work with the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness to identify issues related to student progression and identify methods to improve process efficiencies.
Contribute to academic changes and policies by actively participating in the Undergraduate Council shared governance process. Remain abreast of changes in the partnering colleges and programs and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma. Two years of student support experience or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must have functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite or similar software suite.
Must be able to perform mail merge between word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
Must have functional knowledge of PeopleSoft (SOAR) or related student services software platform.
Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to assemble and analyze requested reports.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with everyone.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor'sDegree from an accredited college or university. Five or more years of paidstudent support experience with multiple programs and/or colleges.
