The Opportunity
FCA is seeking a Weekend Residential Counselor for Nassau Haven, an emergency shelter for youth ages 10 to 20 that provides short-term housing, case management and crisis intervention to runaway and homeless youth in Nassau County.
Responsibilities
Provide supervision and direct counseling to residents.
Employ trauma-sensitive practices.
Ensure that the program is operating in compliance with all regulatory, agency, and funding requirements.
Supervise residents with daily activities, recreational activities, wake-ups and other needs.
Monitor and complete all household chores and ensure meals are prepared on a daily basis.
Complete comprehensive Medicaid billable case notes and progress notes and submit by the required deadlines.
Ensure the medication management procedures are properly followed.
Transport residents to and from appointments, recreational activities, household errands or as otherwise required.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent required
Basic computer skills.
1 year of experience working with youth/young adults
Valid driver’s license with a safe and responsible driving history.
