
Youth Residential Counselor

Overview
The Residential Counselor provides direct care, supervision, and support to residents in a Level 3 group home setting. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while promoting positive behavior, daily living skills, and social-emotional development. The counselor works closely with clinical staff, families, and the treatment team to implement individualized care plans.
Responsibilities
Provide 24/7 care, supervision, and support to residents with high behavioral or emotional needs.
Implement individualized treatment and behavior plans as directed by clinical staff or supervisors.
Monitor, document, and report resident behaviors, incidents, and progress.
Assist residents with daily living skills, including hygiene, meal preparation, and routines.
Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and de-escalation as needed.
Facilitate recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team, families, and other staff.
Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic home environment.
Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience working with children, adolescents, behavioral, emotional, or developmental needs preferred.
Training in crisis intervention, behavior management, or therapeutic techniques preferred.
Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
