The Summer Finance Intern provides analytical and operational support to the CFO and Finance leadership team within Adult Services. This role offers hands-on exposure to healthcare finance, supporting decision-making through data analysis, financial modeling, and performance reporting in a dynamic academic health system environment.
Support the Finance - Decision Support team in analyzing financial and operational data related to Adult Services, including service line performance, utilization, and volume trends
Assist in the development of basic financial models and pro forma analyses for business planning, including ROI assessments for projects and initiatives
Help prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for executive leadership (CFO, service line leaders), summarizing key insights and performance drivers
Perform data extraction and validation from various systems (e.g., Epic, EPSI, internal databases) to support ongoing analyses
Assist in service line profitability analysis, including volume, revenue, cost, and contribution margin trends
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, operations, clinical leaders) to gather data and support project deliverables
Help develop and maintain standard reporting tools and templates (Excel, PowerPoint, dashboards) to improve efficiency and consistency
Prepare meeting materials, summaries, and executive-ready slides, ensuring clear and concise communication of complex data
Maintain organization of data files, reports, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions and analytical insights
Support ad-hoc analyses, special projects, and other assignments as needed to meet evolving departmental and organizational priorities
High school graduation and two years of related administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
May have basic knowledge in administrative procedures including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Requires basic verbal and written communication skills, active listening, and time management skills.
