Responsibilities
Collaborate with care team members to ensure consistency and quality of care, promoting productive employee relations among staff.
Perform a variety of basic patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse, reporting changes in patient medical and/or emotional condition.
Assist nursing personnel in responding to various emergency patient situations and assist patients in activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, toileting, and other personal hygiene regimes.
Follow all departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Demonstrate sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy, answering patient and family questions within the scope of training, and maintaining confidentiality.
Perform general clerical duties as required by unit needs, such as answering telephones, managing call lights, and greeting patients and visitors.
Participate in workshops, educational programs, in‑service meetings, and review current literature to enhance personal growth and maintain competencies.
Perform other tasks as assigned (see task list).
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Graduation from a school of practical nursing OR
Completion of one of the following: Certified PCA/PCT Program; Certified Nurse Assistant Program or equivalent training; Medical Assistant Program; EMT program; phlebotomy training program (with six (6) months direct patient care experience preferred).
