Overview
Mid-Level Litigation Attorney
– Cesar Ornelas Law is seeking a driven and experienced attorney to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong litigation background who is ready to take ownership of cases, drive strategy, and advocate for clients through all phases of litigation. At our firm, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while continuing to grow in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Our Texas offices include San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas, Houston, and Midland. Our New Mexico offices include Hobbs, Santa Fe, and Española.

Responsibilities
Manage a docket of active litigation cases from filing through resolution or trial
Develop and execute case strategies, including discovery plans and motion practice
Draft, review, and argue pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
Take and defend depositions, including plaintiffs, defendants, and experts
Handle court appearances, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
Collaborate with pre-litigation teams to transition and evaluate cases for litigation
Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as needed
Ensure compliance with all court deadlines and procedural requirements
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and case evaluation skills
Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy
Ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously
Strong organizational and time management skills
Effective negotiation and problem-solving abilities
Commitment to client service and case outcomes
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
Must maintain active licensure and meet continuing legal education requirements

Education and Experience
5+ years of personal injury litigation experience
Juris Doctor (JD) degree required
Active license to practice law in Texas and/or New Mexico
Proven courtroom and litigation experience, including depositions and hearings
Trial experience preferred
Experience with legal case management systems (Salesforce preferred)
Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
