Position Overview
ZenPoint Solutions is seeking a

Systems Administrator

to support a government agency’s public website infrastructure. The Systems Administrator will manage updates, patches, and performance monitoring across the production, test, and backup servers running Ubuntu and Apache. This role is designated as Key Personnel, essential to maintaining the 99.999% reliability standard for the public website.

This position is contingent upon the successful award of a government contract and subsequent government approval.

Key Responsibilities

Perform system and software patches and updates to the production, test, and backup servers

Monitor system performance across all three server environments and take proactive measures to remediate issues before they impact availability

Maintain security compliance by ensuring all servers meet current patching levels and security baselines

Administer Ubuntu Linux operating system and Apache web application server configurations across all environments

Manage server-level backup and recovery operations, including local data backups, remote data backups, and failover environment readiness

Support the staging website environment for developing and testing updates before production deployment

Coordinate with the Cybersecurity Engineer on vulnerability remediation requiring system-level changes

Respond to critical and high system vulnerabilities within 24 hours of identification, with remediation completed within 72 hours

Perform Drupal system-level updates and patches within the second week of every month

Provide after-hours deployment support (after 5:00 PM on weekdays) for server-level changes during minor website upgrades and patches

Support disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure rapid system restoration

Manage government-furnished laptops and ensure VPN connectivity for remote system access

Complete all required property forms, security process and forms, and annual training

Document system configurations, maintenance activities, and standard operating procedures for the knowledge capture wiki

Contribute to the Monthly Status Report (MSR) with system performance metrics, uptime statistics, and maintenance activities

Requirements
Required Qualifications

Candidate must be a United States Citizen and present proof of Citizenship, if selected

5+ years of experience as a System Administrator in a production web hosting environment

Strong proficiency with Ubuntu Linux server administration, including package management, service configuration, and performance tuning

Experience administering Apache HTTP Server, including virtual hosts, SSL/TLS configuration, and module management

Demonstrated experience with server patching, hardening, and maintaining security compliance baselines

Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies for multi-server web environments

Experience with system monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or similar)

Familiarity with Drupal CMS hosting requirements and server-side configuration

Understanding of firewall configuration, network security, and access control at the server level

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for system performance issues

Ability to work after-hours (post 5:00 PM) for scheduled deployments and emergency maintenance

Desired Qualifications

Linux+ certification, RHCSA, or equivalent Linux administration credential

Experience supporting federal government web infrastructure

Familiarity with NIST 800-53 security controls and FISMA system administration requirements

Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud migration strategies for modernization initiatives
