Responsibilities

What you will do:
Schedule:

8 hr shifts x 5, scheduled Mon to Friday 0830 to 5pm.
Assesses, Plans and Implements age appropriate preoperative Patient/Family teaching and care needs.
Age appropriate assessment of patient is completed on each patient.
Initiates the plan of care by proper preparation of the patient for surgery.
Provides patient teaching and emotional support.
Includes family/significant others in teaching and care assessments, plans and implementations.
Reinforces patient/family learning by providing written or verbal information and obtaining verbal feedback.
Utilizes telephone contact for assessment and instructional consultation for patients who are otherwise unavailable for face-to-face assessment and preparation.
Manages the patient’s surgical admission process.
Receives and initiates physician orders.
Coordinates diagnostic testing.
Verifies and resolves discrepancies between schedule worksheet and printed surgery schedule.
Communicates pertinent patient scheduling information to nursing personnel, physicians, anesthesiologist and other care team members as appropriate.
Participates in maintaining a clean, safe and customer friendly environment.
Insures patient confidentiality by providing private interviewing area.
Participates in quality improvement.
Demonstrates ability to use equipment properly.
Participates in unit activities.
Maintains current professional growth through independent study and continuing education programs.
Completes RN unit specific Patient Care competency skills checklist.
Participates in budget and inventory control.
Keeps supervisor and/or buyer informed of needed items.
Participates in staff and self-development.
Takes appropriate action to prevent/manage accidents in the area.
Participates in performance/process improvement.
Assists with orientation of new employees.
Completes Annual Equipment Competency Checklist.
Attends 80% of Staff Meetings.
Attends 90% of Mandatory Education Meetings and In-services, if applicable.
Performs other duties as delegated.
Qualifications

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
(RN) Registered Nurse must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
No Travel Required
