Responsibilities
Registered nurse (RN) is accountable for coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. Responsibilities include leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership roles, quality improvement efforts, delegating patient care according to skill level, experience, acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. The RN must possess excellent communication skills, be skillful in mentoring and teaching, and may participate on committees or projects.
Qualifications
Graduate of a nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
One year of RN experience required.
For entry‑level associate degree RNs: Documentation of program completion of the baccalaureate degree within specified timeframes.
Currently working in direct patient care.
Orthopedic experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Experience in a team environment.
Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations.
Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and critical thinking.
License and Certification (Must Obtain Prior to Start Date)
Current RN license by state requirements.
BLS valid for 90 days post start date (AHA/Heartcode BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross CPR/AED).
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
Compensation
Pay range: $35.84 – $58.84 per hour. Mayo Clinic’s nursing compensation model rewards experience, education, and dedication, combined with a competitive tuition reimbursement program.
Schedule
Full Time. Monday – Friday; Days, 8am‑5pm, 8-hour shifts, Float. Weekend: None.
