Job Description
We’re seeking a skilled, self‑motivated Marine Mechanic to join our team. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on marine engines, generators, and vessel systems. The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable in marine mechanics, able to work independently, and comfortable operating and testing boats of various sizes.
Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic tests and analyze, remove, repair, or replace engines, steering, transoms, outdrives, lighting system components, and more.
Examine boats and discuss the nature and extent of damage or malfunction with the service manager or customer.
Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear.
Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical and fuel systems.
Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
Operate a hydraulic jack or hoist as needed.
Ensure all warranty work is completed according to manufacturer guidelines.
Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
Install all types of accessory items.
Maintain detailed records of serviced vessels.
Assist customers by answering specific technical questions to help the customer understand the operation of the unit and the work to be done or work already completed.
Attend technical training to improve proficiency, quality of work, and to achieve higher levels of certification.
Water test boats with customers to verify work performed and explain the operation of the product.
Perform rigging as required.
Safely operate vessels of various sizes.
Maintain a clean and professional work area.
Follow all company policies and procedures.
Perform other duties, assignments, and projects as required.
Skills
Knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
Effectively use OEM published technical information, both hard copy and online.
Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers).
Familiar with safe navigation.
Ability to follow established procedures and practices.
Strong commitment to safety guidelines.
Effective communication and problem‑solving skills.
Attention to detail.
Physical strength and stamina.
Team player.
Requirements, Education & Certifications
High school or equivalent.
Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship.
Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Pay
Commensurate with experience.
