
Machinist - Level 3 (FAA)

As a Machinist Level 3 (FAA) at Honeywell, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining advanced machine tools to produce precision metal parts and instruments with a high degree of skill and autonomy. You will play a critical role in ensuring that manufacturing processes meet stringent quality standards and production schedules while adhering to safety protocols and continuous improvement practices. You will report directly to the Machine Shop Manager and work out of our Phoenix, Arizona location on an on‑site work schedule.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain advanced machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to produce precision parts according to specifications.
Set up, operate, and maintain complex CNC machine tools to produce precision parts with minimal supervision.
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate machining and suggest improvements for manufacturing processes.
Perform detailed quality checks and inspections to ensure parts meet required tolerances and standards, and document results accurately.
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal machine performance.
Follow and enforce safety guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area, and mentor junior machinists.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a machinist with advanced knowledge of machining processes and equipment operation.
Strong knowledge of quality control principles and inspection techniques to ensure parts meet stringent specifications.
Proficiency in operating CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders with precision and efficiency.
Experience with routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and mentoring junior machinists to optimize production.
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or technical certification in machining or a related field.
5+ years of experience in a machining environment, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Familiarity with computer‑aided manufacturing (CAM) software and CNC machine operation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing production priorities.
