Overview
MasTec Utility Services delivers critical infrastructure construction and engineering services for power delivery, gas, and water customers, specializing in overhead and underground electric distribution and gas distribution construction.
Job Summary
This Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles. This position supports the Construction team and works with personnel within the department.
Responsibilities
Inspect and repair company equipment, such as pickup trucks, trailers, bucket trucks, diggers, and forklift.
Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies, as required.
Prepare and maintain records and reports.
Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
Ability to do tune‑ups, brake jobs (hydraulic), and basic wiring.
Basic diesel and drive train experience.
Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
Preferred Qualifications
2 or more years of experience.
OSHA 10 Certification.
CDL Class A license.
Bilingual.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment. The role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and working in inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The position is physically active, requiring lifting, bending, and carrying up to 50 pounds. Calibrated vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, precise hand‑eye coordination, and ability to identify and distinguish colors are required.
