About the Unit
The Nursery and Post Partum Care at Sentara Obici Hospital provides an exciting, fast‑paced environment. Our department has 12 Post Partum Rooms and a 20‑room dedicated nursery. We also care for OBGYN surgical patients, including hysterectomies and mastectomies. We are a top‑performing patient experience department with magnet designation and seeking AWHONN designation.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing competent nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care – teaching and health promotion, and evaluation) along with standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice / nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
Education & Credentials
RN‑Associate’s Degree
RN‑Bachelor’s Degree
RN‑Diploma
RN‑Master’s Degree
License / Certification
Virginia or Compact Multi‑State License in good standing
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
ACLS and PALS or ENPC within one (1) year of hire
Experience
Will only consider new graduates who have completed a preceptorship at Obici L&D and Postpartum Care.
At least 1 year of acute care nursing experience (preferred)
