
Medical Social Services Clinical Supervisor

Job Description
Involves crisis intervention, psychosocial patient assessments and interventions, mandated reporting, information and referral, non‑medical discharge planning, and coordination of health and mental health services with community providers. Works in concert with physicians, nurses, utilization management, discharge planners, and other allied health professionals; may be a member of a structured case‑management team. Assists patients and their families with addressing and resolving the social, financial, and psychological problems related to their health condition and facilitates the patient movement through the health continuum.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
5+ years post‑Masters experience as a Medical Social Worker in a pediatric health‑care setting; plus 2 or more years as an LCSW
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a team and manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with social‑work services
Strong knowledge of social‑work services, familiarity with case‑management, utilization review, discharge planning, home care, and/or managed care
Strong knowledge of human‑resources management policies, with ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human‑resources matters and performance, and to participate in decision‑making on human‑resources matters
Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with all levels of management and staff across clinical disciplines
Knowledge of applicable business software and specialized applications and data‑management systems
Demonstrates ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment
Excellent organizational and customer‑service skills to structure unit operations and lead assigned staff in an efficient and effective manner
Advanced clinical skills with practical knowledge of social‑work theories, principles and techniques; federal, state and local laws, health‑care setting rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
LEAN Management and Active Daily Engagement Skills, within 6 months of hire
License/Certifications
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
