Overview: NaphCare is hiring mid-level practitioners to join our team of medical professionals in Clio, Alabama, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals who are incarcerated in the Easterling Correctional Facility. As a Correctional Mid-Level Practitioner, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care in a controlled environment with security as a priority. You will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a range of medical conditions and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, respond to emergencies, and contribute to care for a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
Conduct physical examinations, develop treatment plans, and monitor patients.
Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
Administer medications and provide patient instructions.
Monitor and document patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
Provide direct patient care, triage, assess needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and arrange timely transport to appropriate facilities.
Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
Understand and adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.
Conduct rounds and evaluate patients returning from off-site treatment.
Admit and discharge patients from the facility.
Qualifications
Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements
Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
Unrestricted Mid-Level Practitioner license in AL
Current DEA registration
Collaborative agreement with on-site Physician
Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
Board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
Strong organizational skills to track treatment plans and progress notes
Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team
Experience in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
Maintain confidentiality and comply with facility policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Standing for long periods, lifting/moving patients (up to 50 pounds), bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, walking long distances, and performing physically demanding tasks (e.g., CPR) while maintaining balance and endurance.
