Description of Work (Responsibilities)
As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor, you will:
Provide vocational training to equip inmates with technical skills for successful reintegration.
Blend classroom instruction with structured, on‑job training, focusing on industry‑standard competencies.
Supervise inmates during all shop activities and work assignments, ensuring strict adherence to safety and custody protocols.
Receive assignments via work orders, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical sketches, and determine the procedures, tools, and materials required for each project.
Operate with significant autonomy while working under general supervision; performance is evaluated by technical and administrative supervisors through reports and inspection of completed assignments.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
No telework option available.
Selected candidates new to Commonwealth employment will begin at an annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility (Qualifications)
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in buildings; OR
Completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship; OR
Equivalent combination of experience and training including one year of journey‑level work in the electrical trade.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
Meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement. For details, refer to the Residency Guidelines link.
Ability to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
Pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.
