Responsibilities

50% END USER IT SUPPORT : Provides timely and thoughtful IT user support. Manages department AV Services and acts as liaison between Campus IT units and departmental end users. Handles MacOS and Windows computer installations, including laptops used off‑site. Creates and manages email lists, Google accounts, shared drives, and CalGroups. Manages staff access to the Samba shared server. Resolves issues with the Room reservations application (Google Calendars) and provides staff support and training. Provides local assistance for campus services such as Zoom, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Box, VPN, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, telecom, and Berkeley Events Calendar. Works with campus technology partners to resolve technical issues and writes and maintains internal and user documentation.

20% WEBMASTER : Manages day‑to‑day operations of the Mathematics Website and WordPress web services. Responds to email inquiries, spins up new websites, and assists users in resolving hosting and plugin issues. Manages bulk theme and plugin upgrades across multiple websites, troubleshoots hosting platform issues in coordination with WP Engine support, and organizes workshops or office hours to support users. Encourages user self‑sufficiency, adheres to campus policies including accessibility, and collaborates with ISA 4 to modernize web hosting services as technologies and policies change. Writes and revises IT operations and user documentation.

15% IT OPERATIONS AND SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT : Under the direction of the Director of Information Systems & Technology (ISA 4), manages Active Directory users, security software upgrades, and responds to ISO communication about security alerts or threats. Collaborates with ISA 4 to manage usage of campus IT services, including NetApp storage, virtual servers, and campus data network. Manages desktop printers and shared multifunction copiers and assists ISA 4 with the security of IT systems. Ensures compliance with campus IT policies.

10% HARDWARE AND EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS : Provides support on AV equipment such as displays, projectors, cameras, and microphones. Supports AV for special events, including recording and streaming, and recommends technology to ISA 4 that improves departmental operations.

5% GENERAL : Participates in professional development activities, assists with department‑wide activities such as commencement, and performs other duties in line with this job function.

Required Qualifications

General knowledge of several areas of IT, including servers, data management systems, and web administration.

Knowledge of software design and development, secure software development, and incident response procedures.

Ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderate to complex problems with computing devices, peripherals, and software.

Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that improve or correct performance.

Experience with database administration and writing clear technical documentation.

Knowledge of computer security tools, best practices, and policies, and ability to apply security controls to software and hardware.

Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem‑solving and learning skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills for working with both technical and non‑technical personnel at various levels.

Proficiency in IT best practices and standards, general website administration, and development.

Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience or training.

Salary & Benefits
Budgeted salary range: $80,000 – $100,000.
