$15.75 Per Hour
BARGAINING UNIT PARTICIPATION
As this is a temporary position, it is exempt from bargaining unit participation.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Health Office Secretaries are a valuable member of the Health Services Team. They offer clerical support to Building Nurses to allow focus on exceptional care to our students and staff. While Health Office Secretaries will not provide nursing care to students, some delegated tasks (such as providing a band‑aid, determining order in which students need to be seen, or documenting nurse interactions per nurse direction) may be required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Duties
Collecting and tracking all medical related paperwork for students (physicals, immunization records, dental and vision exams, etc.) including materials related to pandemic response.
Entering all pertinent medical information for each student in the School Information System.
Creating and maintaining spreadsheets with student demographics on dental and vision records for state reporting purposes.
Scheduling and assisting clerically with Vision and Hearing screenings.
Assisting the Building Nurse with student visits (triage, preparing ice packs, escorting students to and from class and the main office).
Assist in non‑Health Office related tasks in the school as assigned by the principal for other duties as assigned.
Help maintain a log of student visits to the Health Office.
Supervise any students in the Health Office, especially in the event the Building Nurse has to attend to a medical situation elsewhere.
Answer the Health Office Phone, take messages, and contact parents per Building Nurse directives.
Prepare and mail out any letters or forms from the Health Office.
Assist the Building Nurse with any other tasks (non‑treatment related) that may be needed.
Qualifications
Required
Ability to honor confidentiality expectations of the school and nurse's office.
Ability to multitask in a way that is organized and with excellent follow‑through.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to lift up to fifteen pounds.
Ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of employees, students, and parents.
Ability to utilize technology to track student information, and enter information electronically both efficiently and accurately.
Ability to organize and maintain confidential student information and records.
Enjoys interacting with students and their families as well as the school staff.
Preferred
Google Suites Knowledge (Google Sheets and Docs—how to open, share, and utilize email, docs, and sheets).
Data entry experience.
Bilingual.
