Vascular Technologist - Full Time
Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., 4 shifts per week, no weekends.
Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $15,000 for new hires and rehires who meet eligibility requirements.
The Vascular Technologist, under the supervising physician’s authority, is a vital member of the diagnostic team. They perform non‑invasive vascular ultrasound exams to aid in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of peripheral and cerebrovascular diseases. The role requires expertise in vascular anatomy, hemodynamics, and sonographic principles, and adherence to clinical protocols and IAC Vascular accreditation standards.
Technical duties include conducting comprehensive vascular ultrasounds—carotid duplex, dialysis access, abdominal aortic aneurysm, renal/mesenteric duplex, extremity arterial and venous duplex exams, venous reflux, and post‑intervention studies. The technologist prepares the exam room and equipment following infection control and safety protocols, ensures proper patient positioning and ergonomics to maximize comfort and data quality, and prevents injury.
The position includes providing patient care aligned with diagnostic medical sonographer scope of practice and supporting student clinical education when applicable. The technologist contributes to organizational goals through quality customer service, performance improvement, teamwork, and cooperation.
Qualifications
Sonography education, training, or experience in vascular ultrasound.
Competence in vascular sonography; certification as Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by ARDMS or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by CCI.
Commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning (e.g., continuing medical education, staff training).
Proficiency with computer skills and software programs used for documentation and preliminary report generation.
Education
Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program is required. CAAHEP accredited Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) school is preferred.
License / Certification
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by ARDMS or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by CCI. American Heart Association BLS certification required upon hire or transfer. Credentials must be maintained to work. If not credentialed in vascular ultrasound, applicants must be registry eligible and pass certification exams within one year of hire.
Experience
1–2 years of non‑invasive vascular ultrasound. Experience in a dedicated vascular lab is preferred. The technologist performs testing based on educational level and clinical proficiency. Incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately; skill will be required within 30–60 days from hire.
Work Environment
Exposure to hazards and risks in the hospital environment, including infectious disease, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. The position requires extensive standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients up to 50 lbs.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Cardiac Diagnostic leadership.
