Job Description
Small Law Office in Clermont, Florida practicing predominantly premises liability defense for self-insured companies. This is a busy, full-time, in-office position Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with 1 hour for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Position requires a minimum of 5 years current law firm experience with premises liability defense and familiarity with legal terms and Florida civil discovery experience. Must be computer proficient and willing to learn Practice Panther program. The position requires drafting discovery responses, including gathering responsive documents, preparing cases for trial (witness/exhibit disclosures), preparing medical chronologies/summaries, client contact by telephone and via e-mail communication, occasional typing/word processing/transcription of digital dictation which may include letters, pleadings, memos, etc.
The position will also consist of preparing Notices of Production from Non-Parties, updating excel log with subpoenas and follow up with providers for records and films in cases. Position requires entering your own billing for work as well as assisting in billing incoming e-filings and saving electronic files, emails, and attachments to appropriate files. From time to time will assist with scanning incoming daily mail to file and saving to appropriate file. From time to time will assist with answering incoming calls for law firm. A professional telephone demeanor and e‑mail etiquette is required.
Position will support and assist one attorney and will work closely with the office manager/paralegal. The position will work alongside one additional legal assistant.
The ideal candidate will have strong grammar and punctuation skills and be knowledgeable regarding all phases of civil litigation. Candidate must be self‑directed/motivated without prompting, with a good attitude and willingness to work and/or learn and assist where needed.
Simple IRA with matching offered after probationary period.
Three 3 weeks annual vacation time earned on monthly accrued basis.
Discretionary end of year bonus.
Firm currently does not offer health or dental insurance.
Pay commensurate with experience
