2nd Shift Maintenance Technician
to join our team in
Omaha, NE . In this hands‑on role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial equipment and facility systems to keep operations running efficiently and safely.
What We’re Looking For
Strong mechanical and electrical background, including experience with HVAC, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery, including CNC machines, PLCs, and VFDs.
Proficiency with hand and power tools, diagnostic instruments, and fabrication equipment.
Familiarity with safety standards such as LOTO, OSHA, and NFPA.
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in industrial maintenance or related field is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
Willingness to travel between sites and work flexible hours, including overtime and occasional weekends.

Summary
Maintenance technicians are responsible for independently completing tasks and working as part of a team to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial manufacturing and facility equipment (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, etc.).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must have qualifications to work with low voltage (control), single and three phase AC/DC 110‑480 V, and follow safety standards (LOTO, OSHA, NFPA, local codes, etc.).
Inspects, tests, diagnoses, and troubleshoots production equipment, listening for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions.
Gather information from operators, supervisors, and other technicians to understand normal operation.
Follow safety protocols (LOTO) and use schematics to dismantle machines and repair or install parts, including cleaning and treating serviceable points (bearings, shafts, chains, belts, etc.).
Troubleshoot and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, wiring, and electronic components.
Understand integration of CNC machining centers, PLCs, VFDs, automated production lines to solve equipment issues quickly and minimize downtime.
Knowledge of robotics and fully automated systems, diagnosis, troubleshooting, light programming is desired.
Adjust calibrations and re‑establish manufacturer specifications when equipment is out of specs.
Proficient in hand and power tools, measurement equipment (multimeter, voltmeter, amp meters, oscilloscope, gauges, etc.) and precision machining tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators).
Operate cutting and welding equipment (torches, plasma cutters, SMAW, TIG, MIG) and follow hot‑work permit procedures.
Certification required to operate material handling equipment (cranes, lift trucks, scissor lifts, etc.). Company provides training and certification.
Respond quickly to breakdowns, maintenance work orders, and emergency repairs.
Track and record maintenance work orders, scheduling, preventive and corrective activities, parts used, time spent.
Demonstrate awareness of arc flash, use appropriate PPE, and follow safety practices.
Follow Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out procedures and safeguard repair areas.
Repair and maintain physical structure of plant (walls, counters, benches, partitions, fences, gates, etc.).
Ensure plant compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations related to maintenance.
Adhere to safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
Schedule, coordinate, and inspect work of third‑party contractors.
Travel to Omaha and Harlan for special projects, training, and support.
Maintain clear walkways and parking lots during winter months; make minor repairs to spreaders and snow removal equipment.
Participation in the CXW Safety Committee is ideal.
Maintain 5S within maintenance department/work areas.
Support CXW Quality, Environmental, and EHS/ZERO Harm policies.
Uphold core values and conduct yourself in accordance with desired behaviors.
Serve as a trainer for safety policies, standard operating procedures, and use of equipment after repair.
May be called out outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays; overtime may be required.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Two‑year associate's degree in industrial maintenance or a related field is a plus.
Or 5 years of related field experience in lieu of education.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must successfully pass the in‑house forklift and overhead crane certification program before operating equipment.
Must obtain EPA 608 certification to handle refrigerants on HVAC systems.
Physical Demands
Regular standing, use of hands, reaching, talking, hearing. Occasional walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching are required. Heavy lifting and moving of items may be necessary. Vision required for close, peripheral, depth perception and color. Hearing of noises, alarm, and verbal communication is required.
Work Environment
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, automated equipment, humidity, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and moderate noise levels.
