Role Description
The Assistant Technical Designer supports the Technical Design team in executing product in Production, ensuring accuracy in fit, construction, and technical documentation. This role is integral to maintaining consistent fit standards, supporting fittings, and driving efficient communication across Design, Production, and vendor partners.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Technical Design & Patternmaking, this position contributes to the overall development strategy for fit, grading, sizing, construction, and process efficiency, while upholding design intent and brand standards.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do: Support the
Production
teams's various functions:
Update all fit notes and revise specs in a timely manner after the fitting
Maintain accurate fit logs, WIP trackers, and development lists to ensure project visibility
Technical Documentation & Data
Update all fit notes and revise specs in a timely manner after the fitting
Maintain accurate fit logs, WIP trackers, and development lists to ensure project visibility
Fit & Sample Execution
Measure samples, prepare garments, take detailed notes during sessions, and communicate fit comments/corrections post-fitting.
Review and measure PP/TOP samples against specs to ensure accuracy before and after revisions.
Communication & Coordination
Work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve design and fit issues to ensure feasibility
Clearly communicate technical updates and construction details to overseas factories using diagrams, photos, and written instructions.
Support standardized fit practices and internal process enhancements for better efficiency.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
1–3 years of experience in Technical Design or related field (internship included)
Strong understanding of women’s RTW garment construction for wovens and cut & sew knits
Proficiency in Excel, PLM systems, and Adobe (Illustrator and Photoshop)
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Curiosity and willingness to learn and grow
Interest in Production-focused roles
Preferred Skills
Experience with Gerber or similar patternmaking software
Exposure to 3D pattern making tools (e.g., Browzwear)
Basic knowledge of grading and fit standards
