Job Summary
Join our Sanford Patient Access Family and Grow the Good! As a Patient Access Representative, your primary responsibility is providing extraordinary customer service to patients at every interaction, creating a welcoming and safe environment either on the phone or in the clinic.
Responsibilities
Registration
Greet patients and verify demographics
Create, scan, and route documents or electronic forms
Explain documents to patients and capture necessary signatures
Establish financial responsibility and assist with arrangements while adhering to policies and procedures
Collect co‑payments, pre‑payments, and payments on account balances
Address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims via the registration work queue
Scheduling
Work with nursing staff and providers to coordinate and schedule appointments, meeting patient needs and provider schedules
Obtain referrals and conduct pre‑authorization
Arrange interpreter services
Check patients in and out
Operate a multi‑line phone system
Resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, and serve as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers
Additional Duties May Include
Prepare and coordinate charts
Organize supporting provider documents
Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance
Track patient visits and health information on patient accounts
Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
Coordinate telemedicine appointments
Make reminder calls for appointments
Assist with hospital admission procedures
Perform office duties such as copying or faxing documents
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post‑secondary education helpful
One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
Knowledge of medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential
Six months of customer service experience desired
May be required to obtain BLS certification for certain locations or settings
