
Faculty Physician / Clinician Educator (Chatham Hospital)

Position Summary
The Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in partnership with UNC Health Care System, is seeking a Faculty Physician/Clinician Educator for a position based at Chatham Hospital in Siler City, NC. The role involves clinical care of a rural population while providing teaching to residents, medical students, and fellows.
Responsibilities
Clinical:
Cover labor & delivery, surgical coverage, women’s health clinic, and women’s health surgery. Additional clinical duties may include hospitalist, continuity clinic, or specialty clinics depending on qualifications and training.
Teaching & Education:
Engage in a rich teaching environment that includes residents, medical students, and fellows.
Research:
Faculty are encouraged to pursue scholarly activities; clinical faculty are expected to produce scholarly products, including national presentations and manuscript submissions, at a rate of one every one to two years.
Supervision:
Supervise a midwife, nurse practitioner, and/or physician assistant.
Institutional Citizenship:
Participate in community outreach, professional events, and documentation to improve patient and referring physician satisfaction.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
MD or DO required. Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified in Family Medicine and have completed an ACGME‑approved 3‑year family medicine residency program with strong perinatal training. Fellowship training in operative obstetrics is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Fellowship training and/or an advanced degree such as an MPH is highly desirable but not mandatory.
