Overview
The Biostatistics Center (BSC) of the Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University, located in Rockville, Maryland, is an off‑campus research facility that coordinates large‑scale multi‑center clinical trials and epidemiological studies funded by federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health. The BSC is seeking a full‑time Biostatistician I to serve as a biostatistician and project manager on the data coordinating center team supporting the NIH‑funded Maternal‑Fetal Medicine Units Network ( https://mfmunetwork.bsc.gwu.edu ). The Biostatistician I will conduct statistical analyses for ongoing studies (interim and primary), existing analyses (started but not completed), and newly proposed secondary analyses; perform statistical review of other study manuscripts; and assist with study design, project management, and oversight throughout the phases of a clinical study, including implementation, conduct, and closeout.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with medical investigators on primary and secondary analyses; draft statistical analysis plans; conduct statistical analyses; and assist with the preparation of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.
Prepare analytic datasets and conduct interim analyses for ongoing studies.
Perform a second statistical review of methods and results for other study manuscripts.
Prepare study reports for study committees and the Data and Safety Monitoring Board.
Collaborate with senior biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and medical investigators in the design of studies.
Assist with the construction of electronic data capture of data forms and creation of data checks; perform data management and quality control of study databases.
Maintain daily oversight of study activities and task lists, ensuring timely completion.
Participate in the design and development of study documents including data collection forms and procedure manuals. Update research documents as required during the course of the study.
Keep an accounting of study biospecimens where applicable.
Conduct study training and certification for clinical research staff.
Assist with the review and tracking of documentation for the single Institutional Review Board.
Manage study website content (posting and updating study documents).
Organize, participate, and prepare minutes for study calls and meetings.
Act as a liaison between the BSC and the clinical center research coordinators.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MS or MPH in Biostatistics, Statistics, Health Data Science, Epidemiology, or a related field, conferred by the start date of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team, as well as the capability to work on multiple tasks on short notice.
Proficiency in either SAS or R statistical software (preferably SAS).
