Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of students in grades K‑5. The ideal candidate will build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families while implementing a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs
Deliver classroom guidance lessons on topics such as emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and character development
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success
Assist in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans and MTSS processes
Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate support and referrals
Promote a positive school climate and contribute to a culture of respect and inclusion
Maintain accurate and confidential student records
Connect families with community resources and support services
Participate in school and district teams and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
Master's degree in School Counseling or related field
Valid Colorado School Counselor License or ability to obtain
Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
Experience with MTSS and trauma-informed practices
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Commitment to working in a rural school setting and engaging with the community
