Position Summary
This professional administrative position provides support to the instruction, research, and professional development initiatives for several members of the Law School Faculty. Duties include assisting with class attendance records, organizing, preparing, distributing, and collecting class materials, and managing travel arrangements (travel authorizations and expense statements). Additional responsibilities involve preparing, obtaining, and organizing reports and files that support faculty research and service commitments.

Roles & Responsibilities

Instructional Support

Assists faculty and their visitors with travel authorizations, travel arrangements, and expense reimbursements.

Works with IT to maintain operational office equipment and faculty equipment.

Maintains calendar/schedule for faculty as needed.

Assists other faculty and administrative staff.

Greets visitors by phone or in person, provides information, takes and delivers messages, and maintains appointment schedules.

Maintains office supplies and anticipates need for appropriate items.

Other duties as assigned.

General Support

Assists with preparing, distributing, collecting, and organizing class materials and syllabi and posting announcements to the eLc site.

Orders course books or textbooks.

Prepares seating charts, maintains attendance records, distributes/collects exams or other graded materials, and verifies grade calculations.

Facilitates letters of recommendation for faculty.

Coordinates and assists with take‑home exams.

Research Support

Transcribes, types, prints, proofreads, formats, and corrects drafts and final versions of manuscripts, reports, documents, correspondence, scholarly articles, and mailing lists for assigned faculty.

Obtains and organizes information, prepares reports, and maintains files that support faculty research and service responsibilities.

Creates and maintains appropriate files and processes paperwork for clerkships.

Event Support

Provides support for events hosted by the School of Law, including setup, active participation during events, and cleanup.

Coordinates room reservations, catering, parking, announcements, and IT services.

Processes all related financial transactions for events within 30 days of the event.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Customer service orientation.

Problem‑solving skills.

Effective and professional communication, both verbally and in writing.

Strong attention to detail.

Comfort with complex computer tasks (Word, WordPerfect, and Excel).

Physical Demands

Type and sit at a computer for long periods.

Lift up to 15 pounds intermittently.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Information

Position is non‑driver, but responsible for travel arrangements.

Position qualifies as a Position of Trust and requires security access.

Does not have financial control or require a P‑Card.

Background investigation, including a criminal background check, may be required prior to employment. A credit check is required for all positions with financial responsibilities.

No drug test required for this role.
