Role Overview
The Accounting Associate will support the Accounts Payable function within a fast-paced finance department, ensuring timely, accurate processing of payables and adherence to established accounting protocols. This on-site role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a structured team environment.
Accounts Payable Associate Responsibilities
Verify journal, ledger, and related accounting entries
Monitor company travel programs and employee expense compliance
Support administration of the company\'s purchasing program
Post journal, ledger, and financial transactions
Maintain organized records, correspondence, and documentation of expected payments
Perform filing, photocopying, and general administrative tasks
Process vendor invoices and route checks/vouchers for approval
Manage ActivePay and PositivePay FTP payment file submissions
Prepare year-end 1099 and 1096 forms
Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual accrual schedules
Prepare journal entries as needed
Compile and audit credit card reports to ensure accurate documentation and approvals
Assist with month-end and year-end close
Accounts Payable Associate Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree required
Minimum 1 year of experience in a general accounting environment
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and best practices
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Dynamics or similar systems)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong math skills and exceptional attention to detail
Highly organized with the ability to learn and retain information quickly
Experience with purchase orders and credit card administration
Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy
Comfortable performing both administrative and analytical tasks
