Job Summary
Versant Media is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented PEP (Part-Time) Graphics Playback Operator (Vizrt) to join the CNBC broadcast production team. This role is responsible for the preparation, management, and execution of real‑time graphics for both live and recorded programming using Vizrt systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure live broadcast environment while ensuring accuracy and adherence to editorial and branding standards.

Responsibilities

Operate and control real‑time broadcast graphics utilizing Vizrt systems, including Viz Trio, Viz Pilot, Viz Artist, and Viz Engine.

Prepare and execute lower thirds, full‑screen and split‑screen graphics, tickers, over‑the‑shoulder elements, and other on‑air assets.

Collaborate closely with producers, directors, and newsroom staff to ensure accurate, timely, and editorially sound graphic delivery.

Manage and integrate live data feeds (e.g., financial data, election results, and other real‑time information) as required.

Monitor iNews rundowns and ensure graphics are aligned with show production requirements.

Ensure all graphics meet established branding guidelines and editorial standards.

Test, validate, and verify all graphic elements prior to broadcast.

Troubleshoot and escalate technical issues in real time during live and recorded productions.

Maintain clear and effective communication with control room and production teams throughout broadcasts.

Qualifications

Proven experience operating Vizrt graphics systems in a live broadcast environment.

Strong knowledge of broadcast production workflows and newsroom operations.

Hands‑on experience with Viz Pilot, Viz Trio, Viz Artist, and Viz Engine.

Familiarity with MOS workflow integration and newsroom computer systems (NRCS).

Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and perform effectively during live broadcasts.

Flexibility to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Ability to remain composed and make quick decisions in high‑pressure, on‑air environments.

Proficiency with newsroom systems such as iNews.

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving capabilities.

Experience with data‑driven graphics and database integrations (preferred).

Basic understanding of graphic design principles and visual composition (preferred).

Familiarity with graphic playback systems and playout servers (preferred).

Prior experience in news, sports, or live event production environments (preferred).

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Broadcast Production, Media Technology, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a live broadcast graphics role preferred.
