Job Title: Survey Technician
The Survey Technician is responsible for producing accurate survey drawings, plats, and mapping deliverables using CAD and related software based on field data collected by survey crews. This role supports land development, infrastructure, and construction projects by translating survey measurements into clear, precise, and compliant drawings for internal teams and clients.
Responsibilities
Prepare survey drawings and exhibits, including boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, and as-built drawings.
Create site plans, right-of-way maps, and subdivision plats.
Interpret and reduce survey field data, notes, and measurements into CAD drawings.
Develop surface models, contours, and digital terrain models.
Perform basic survey calculations such as coordinate geometry, areas, curves, and elevations.
Maintain drafting standards, layering conventions, and quality control procedures.
Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to ensure the accuracy and completeness of deliverables.
Revise drawings based on redlines, field updates, and project changes.
Assist with the preparation of survey documentation, reports, and project records as needed.
Essential Skills
Proficiency with AutoCAD.
Working knowledge of land surveying principles and terminology.
Ability to interpret survey field notes, plats, and construction plans.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or coursework in surveying, geomatics, civil drafting, or a related field preferred.
Experience with Civil 3D, Carlson, or MicroStation is a plus.
