Summary:
Reality Labs (RL) is developing cutting‑edge hardware and software that fundamentally transforms the way people work, play, and connect. The RL Digital Content Accounting team oversees financial accounting for media and experiences created for our products and services, such as virtual reality games, videos, and immersive content. As a member of this high‑performing team, you will ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting of digital products in accordance with US GAAP, while supporting key business initiatives. You are able to prioritize competing deadlines and adapt to shifting business needs during close cycles and product launches and possess experience managing cross‑functional accounting projects, communicating technical conclusions to diverse stakeholders, and partnering with teams across finance, engineering, and operations to problem‑solve and provide guidance to cross‑functional teams. As a key contributor, you will ensure financial reporting accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and internal controls in a rapidly growing organization. You will independently evaluate complex accounting scenarios and develop scalable processes and solutions to support business growth.
Reality Labs Digital Accounting Manager Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain an accurate and timely month‑end close process for Reality Labs digital accounting areas, including software subscriptions, RL content transactions, and some hardware products
Collaborate with Finance, Operations and Business Development teams to understand business models, and accurately account for digital products
Identify and pilot AI‑driven solutions to automate and enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting processes specific to the Reality Labs product ecosystem
Develop and maintain accounting policies and controls for new RL product launches, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and relevant revenue recognition standards including ASC 606
Investigate product features, data flows, and contractual arrangements across Reality Labs hardware and digital content offerings to identify accounting risks and opportunities
Partner with product engineering and operations teams to support system solutions that accurately capture and report financial data for wearable devices and spatial computing platforms
Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders including legal, tax, and FP&A to provide accounting guidance on new business models and go‑to‑market strategies within the RL space
Support analytical review and detective controls over Reality Labs financial results, including variance analysis and management reporting
Contribute to short, mid, and long‑term accounting process improvement goals aligned to the growth trajectory of the Reality Labs business
Communicate complex accounting conclusions and technical positions clearly to both accounting and non‑accounting audiences across the organization
Support ad‑hoc accounting projects and analysis as required, including global close efficiency improvements, process redesign, and automation initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
6+ years of relevant experience in accounting, including experience with hardware, digital content, or technology product accounting
Technical accounting background with working knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition
Experience developing and maintaining accounting processes and controls for complex, multi‑element product offerings
Experience communicating technical accounting positions and analysis to cross‑functional stakeholders, distilling complex concepts into clear and actionable conclusions
Experience managing time‑sensitive close processes while balancing evolving priorities and a broad range of stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle and data analysis tools such as SQL, Tableau, or Python to support accounting operations and reporting
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to redesign accounting workflows and deliver measurable efficiency or quality improvements
Experience with hardware and digital content accounting in a consumer electronics or technology company, including familiarity with subscription, marketplace, or platform revenue models
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Public Compensation:
$114,000/year to $167,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
