Human Resources Business Partner for Pharmaceuticals role focuses on aligning HR solutions with business strategy to support R&D leadership.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include partnering with senior management in specific business units or regions to develop and implement medium to long‑term HR solutions, providing HR consulting and coaching on hiring, termination, performance management, rewards, facilitating talent integration during mergers and acquisitions, and collaborating with centralized HR specialists.

The incumbent will be based in Cambridge (Boston), USA, and be part of a strategic HR team supporting total rewards, talent impact, and the overall talent agenda of the Pharma client group.

At least 20% of the portfolio will be dynamic, adjusting on a 90‑day cycle or longer based on business needs.

Own and Lead People Strategy : drive people strategy for leadership teams and product teams to optimize productivity, innovation, and employee fulfillment.

Co‑Accountable for Talent & Culture : diagnose the organizational state, co‑create talent, organizational and culture agenda, foster a diverse, inclusive and innovative environment.

Organizational Effectiveness : spearhead delivery of organizational effectiveness, efficiency and change management solutions aligned with DSO principles.

Strategic Skills Planning : lead strategic skills planning and upskilling initiatives for the global Pharma R&D organization.

Market Orientation : bring an outside‑in perspective by connecting with industry peers and key talents.

Coaching & Leadership Development : coach senior leaders to unlock potential and drive organizational impact.

Strategic HR Business Partnering for Pharma R&D

Act as a trusted HR co‑pilot for Pharma R&D leadership, shaping a high‑performing organization in Boston and globally.

Support local leaders on organizational design, capability building, succession planning, and leadership development.

Lead strategic workforce and capability planning to align Boston activities with the broader Innovation Strategy.

Drive consistent translation of business priorities and smooth execution of global HR processes and initiatives.

Strengthen leadership effectiveness, team development and feedback culture.

Boston Site HR Leadership

Serve as the Pharma HR contact for the Boston Site Leadership, surfacing and aligning HR topics with global governance.

Coordinate HR matters across the local and global HR ecosystem for Boston‑based talent.

Support onboarding, integration and scaling of new teams as the R&D footprint grows.

Connect site‑level initiatives (culture, ways of working) with global Pharma R&D frameworks.

Maintain close relationships with Boston leaders on workforce planning, local talent strategies and cross‑functional collaboration.

Support local Boston‑related needs that intersect with the broader R&D leadership community.

Talent Ecosystem, External Partnerships & University Engagement

Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding to strengthen the Boston talent pipeline.

Support relationships with universities, postdoctoral programs and local scientific communities to increase visibility and attract top talent.

Identify opportunities to build a sustainable talent ecosystem aligned with scientific capability needs.

WHO YOU ARE
We seek an incumbent with:

Extensive HR Business Partner experience in complex, matrixed, local and global organizations.

Proven outcome track record in talent, team and organizational development, performance and effectiveness.

Deep understanding of business and industry drivers, customer value and value‑chain dynamics.

Long‑term professional experience as an HR Business Partner with local and global scope.

Strong strategic thinker, team player able to navigate ambiguity and leverage the full HR ecosystem.

Ability to synthesize complex information and translate insights into impactful actions.

Influential leader and trusted partner to senior leaders, able to challenge, coach and drive change without formal authority.

Lifelong learner with high self‑awareness, humility and experience supporting scientific or innovation‑driven functions.

Ability to operate in a complex matrix and influence without formal authority.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with the Boston biotech/pharma ecosystem.

Master’s degree in HR, business, psychology, social sciences, law or a comparable field.

Prior experience partnering with US‑based leadership teams in growth or transformation contexts.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $140,720 to $211,080.

Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission, as applicable.
