
Information Technology Specialist 14

This position serves as an IT Solutions Architect 14 supporting DTMB’s Microsoft Defender Suite of services, with a focus on workstation and server security.
Responsibilities
Provide direction on the application of Attack Surface Reduction (ASR) rules and work closely with Michigan Cybersecurity to determine appropriate applications and exceptions to security processes.
Manage workstation configuration and security for over 55,000 state‑operated workstations, applying policies through SCCM and Intune.
Act as a technical expert in orchestrating the placement and interaction of application components to meet business requirements while balancing sustainability, cost control, standardization, security, compliance, and strategic alignment for Microsoft Defender, Configuration Manager, Intune, Entra, and related security tools.
Ensure server and workstation Defender configuration is properly integrated with COTS packages, SaaS, web services, and other federal, state, and local government applications.
Provide technical expertise and leadership to application development staff, promoting usability, security, mobility, maintainability, and reuse.
Investigate security alerts and incidents, handling exclusions and maintaining security policies for the Microsoft Defender tenant.
Ensure consistent security posture across all managed devices using SCCM and Intune.
Work under minimal direct supervision, maintaining direct contact with department program managers and DTMB project and technology oversight groups.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least 21 semester (32 term) credits in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management, or mathematics.
Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11, or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P12.
Alternatively, an associate’s degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in a related field plus at least two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician, combined with four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11, or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P12.
Alternatively, high school completion plus three years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician, combined with four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11, or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P12.
Location and Work Arrangement
Position Location / Remote Office:
Dimondale, MI. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement: two days on‑site and three days remote per week. Out‑of‑state applicants must be willing to relocate.
