Overview
Job Function
This position is responsible for ensuring that the maintenance shop meets the needs of the company associated with the repair of trucks and equipment.
Responsibilities
Supervises mechanics ensuring safe work practices are being followed, quality work is being performed, and housekeeping is up to MPW standards.
Coordinates workflow to mechanics, prioritizing equipment needs through Maintenance Manager and Operations.
Repairs specific mechanical failures as needed.
Performs mentorship, training, and technical support to lower level mechanics.
May be required to work temporarily at field locations maintaining/repairing equipment.
Performs other duties as directed.
Ensure scheduled repairs are completed on time and correctly.
Adjust schedule to meet changing priorities and emergencies.
Must maintain good communication between shifts with supervisor and superintendent as well as between drivers and mechanics, dispatch and mechanics, and other maintenance shops.
Qualifications
A minimum of High School Diploma with specialization in industrial or vocational trades preferred.
High School Education or equivalent is acceptable.
Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) standards as they relate to equipment and equipment maintenance.
Knowledge of pump and industrial equipment rebuilding and repair.
Knowledge of rebuilding, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills on gasoline and diesel engines, drive trains, brakes, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, and electronic engine systems.
Effective oral and written communications, listening skills, and ability to interact with others.
Strong computer skills on Microsoft operating systems and productivity software.
5-8 years mechanical experience; 3-5 years supervisory experience.
