Summary
Fargo VA Health Care System is recruiting for 1 full-time Program Coordinator for the Suicide Prevention program. This position will be filled by a Social Worker (Program Coordinator) or a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (Program Coordinator).
Qualifications
United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Master’s degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Graduates of schools of social work in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school is fully accredited.
Doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master’s degree.
Verification of degree via http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation.
License to practice social work independently at the master’s level (state requirements can be verified at http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/).
Proficient in spoken and written English.
One year of experience equivalent to GS‑11: community resource knowledge, referral coordination, psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of various modalities.
Experience demonstrates advanced practice skills and professional competency.
Certification or post‑master’s training from a nationally recognized professional organization is preferred.
Advanced practice level licensure/certification required; must be capable of supervising other practitioners.
Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: program coordination, policy development, supervision, organization, training, and evaluation.
Must provide detailed description of qualifying experience in application package.
Duties
Provide high‑quality mental health services to Veterans enrolled at the Fargo VA Healthcare System.
Advocate and coordinate linkages to VA and community service providers.
Coordinate care for Veterans at high risk for suicide and monitor treatment to ensure services are received.
Respond to and close service consults from the Veteran’s Crisis Line, arranging follow‑up assessment, health and safety checks, and hospitalization or outpatient care as needed.
Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process by performing case reviews and facilitating implementation of system improvements.
Train clinical and non‑clinical staff on suicide risk evaluation, safety plans, and Operation S.A.V.E.
Promote evidence‑based interventions and strategies for suicide prevention.
Ensure at‑risk Veterans have a 24‑hour resource number and support for assistance.
Develop and distribute outreach materials (brochures, fact sheets, web content) on suicide prevention and risk factors.
Participate in community suicide prevention activities and assist in implementing educational endeavors internally and externally.
Implement ongoing risk‑management plans for providers, Veterans, families, and community members.
Develop criteria for facility‑wide identification of at‑risk Veterans and oversee the monitoring system.
Plan, design, implement, and report on the program to determine goals and objectives for the VISN or VA Central Office.
Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Pay is competitive with regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 37–50 days of annual paid time per year (13–26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays).
Parental leave: up to 12 weeks paid after 12 months of employment.
Child care subsidy: eligible employees after 60 days of employment with family income below $144,000 may receive up to 25% of eligible child care costs.
Retirement: traditional federal pension and 401(k) with up to 5% VA contribution.
Telework: not a virtual position; ad‑hoc virtual not authorized.
Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized. Permanent Change of Station: Not authorized.
