Job Overview
Position Title:

Direct Support Professional

Purpose:

Provide exceptional support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, enabling them to thrive in their daily lives.

Responsibilities

Advance clients’ decision‑making, productivity, and participation in a range of daily activities.

Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Maintain current knowledge of clients’ needs and foster positive communication with supervisors, clients, landlords, employers, family members, the Regional Center, the Department of Rehabilitation, and other community stakeholders.

Participate in client evaluations by completing task analyses and other requested assessment devices.

Implement individualized training and support programs under the direction of the responsible case manager.

Document required activity records, reports, incidents, and client evaluations promptly and accurately.

Promote independence in daily activities while being mindful of each client’s intellectual and physical disabilities; assist with meals, cooking, household maintenance, grooming, dressing, and transportation to appointments or community activities as needed.

Address challenging behaviors proactively and respectfully, using approaches outlined in individualized plans.

Oversee client activities and the environment throughout the shift to ensure health and safety needs are met; provide direct service as necessary.

Facilitate clients’ inclusion in positive community experiences.

Requirements

Year of age 18 or older.

Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.

Ability to work a schedule determined by the Regional Manager or designee; overtime may be required, but no holiday or overtime without prior supervisor approval.

Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition and proof of a current California driver’s license.

Schedule may be part‑time or full‑time, depending on client needs and organizational requirements.

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Access to a mobile smart device (cell phone/tablet) with reliable internet connectivity and data for essential job tasks.

Physical evaluations may be required, including a TB test and/or lift and transfer test, depending on assigned duties.

Strong confidentiality, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to travel within and throughout the counties in which services are provided a minimum of 75% of the time.

Certification in an approved First‑Aid and CPR class within 45 days of hire.
