Position Summary
CSW seeks a Human Resources (HR) Manager to help cultivate a supportive, inclusive, and well-functioning workplace for faculty and staff. The HR Manager is responsible for a wide variety of human resources functions, including but not limited to recruitment, benefits, compliance, and employee relations. The Human Resources Manager oversees the entire employee lifecycle, ensuring legal compliance and promoting a productive, inclusive workplace, and handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Essential Functions
Keeps abreast of all federal and state laws concerning human resource management and assures the school's compliance. Responsible for the timely filing of all mandatory state and federal reports (Form 5500, EOC, ACA reports, etc.) and assists the auditors with the annual 403b audit.
Prepares annual Letters of Agreement for all faculty, staff, athletic coaches, and dorm parents. Manages new-hire paperwork and protocols, including administering mandatory background checks and safety training, and maintains employment files and the school's onboarding and offboarding procedures.
Serves as administrator of all benefit programs. Works with the school's benefits advisor on the annual renewal process, informs and assists employees with it, and assures the addition of eligible faculty/staff and processes changes and removals when applicable.
Works with department managers to execute the school's recruitment and selection process for new employees. Posts job openings, assists with the creation of job descriptions, screens candidates, and participates in the interview and hiring process.
Leads the annual review of the Employee Handbook and assures timely updates. Serves as a resource on school policies and procedures, benefit questions, and grievance resolutions. Files and follows up on all Workers’ Compensation claims and assists employees with requests for Leaves of Absence through Mutual of Omaha.
Assists the Director of Strategic Initiatives with new staff orientation, administration of the staff performance evaluation process, and other administrative support as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field.
Proven experience working in an HR department in a school environment.
Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Office, and Google Workplace.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness. Strong, responsive customer service skills that demonstrate empathy and align with the school's ethos. Able to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment and capable of contributing to a team environment.
Effectively communicates concepts and ideas. Able to apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Adept at problem-solving and conflict resolution, with a thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies. Handles confidential information with discretion.
A high degree of organization and attention to detail is required to manage workflow.
Knowledge of state and national laws and regulations related to employment.
Working Conditions
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet; however, noise levels may vary when the employee attends school functions such as assemblies, school dances, and other events.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to listen, physically direct, and speak. The employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
